The SOS Card Project

Translating texts for The SOS Card Project

There is a list of pages waiting for translation.

Let's assume the page

https://www.sos-card.info/wiki/<language-code>/translation/missing_page

needs to be translated.

  1. Open that page — or see below :!:
  2. Choose the pencil in the upper right corner
  3. Choose the first entry, “Edit this page”
  4. Click in the text area, select all text (Ctrl-A), and copy it to your clipboard (Ctrl-C)
  5. Paste this text (Ctrl-V) into an empty file (OpenOffice Document or plain UTF-8 text file) and save it
  6. Open this new file in OmegaT and translate it
  7. Open the translated file (in the …/target/ directory), and select all text (Ctrl-A), and copy it to your clipboard (Ctrl-C)
  8. Go back to the page to be translated and paste (Ctrl-V) the translation, replacing the original text, and finally click Save

Usually, missing pages are “pre-filled” with English text. :!: If you prefer another language as your starting point, simply use the language selector to switch to that language.

For example, you want to contribute this page in Greek

https://www.sos-card.info/wiki/el/translation/missing_page

(EL is the language code for Greek)

But you prefer to start from the French text rather than the English. Simply open

https://www.sos-card.info/wiki/fr/translation/missing_page

and do the same.

Alternative

Or, drop a line the.sos.card.project@gmail.com and we will export the page in question to the OpenDocument format. Then you can work on the file without the need of the Copy-and-Paste procedure described above. Some “special” pages are write-protected; to translate those, please contact us via e-mail.

Thank you very much for your support in advance!
