The SOS Card Project

Invitation to a Scientific Survey regarding Medical Emergency Pictographs

Dear Madam/Sir!

Pictographs are widely used to give instructions when messages should be quickly and language-independently be transferred. For example, at traffic hubs (airports, train stations) or as a warning sign on packaging (of dangerous chemical substances, medicaments). Yet there does not exist a set of pictographs depicting medical conditions, such as, drug-incompatibility of a patient. We are developing such a set and kindly invite you and your colleagues to participate! Please visit:

This survey is carried out by The SOS Card Project, an independent collaboration of physicians, nurses, first-aid (wo)men, translators from all over the world. The technical realisation is done by DAIBOLA Trade Ltd in an honorary capacity.

The result of this survey will be published. It is the aim to establish an international set of medical pictographs. Used by patients, these pictographs are intended to identify medical conditions quickly and independently of a language in the event of a medical emergency.
